Chicago – Near North Health is excited to announce the Komed Holman Health Center Men’s Health Month Community Mural Project. This engaging initiative aims to involve Near North Health patients and staff in collaboration with a talented muralist, Damon Lamar Reed, to create a vibrant mural for the east side of the health center.
The mural will reflect the essence of the Kenwood/Oakland neighborhood, focusing on men’s health and celebrating the unique characteristics of the community. The project is a testament to Near North Health’s dedication to fostering a sense of belonging and pride within the community.
Komed Holman Health Center Men’s Health Month Community Mural Project Details
Media outlets are invited to attend the Community Mural Project Paint Day and cover the event to showcase the collaborative efforts and community spirit on display.
- What: Volunteers/Staff from Meridian Health, Patients, Community Members, and staff will paint sections of the mural in groups of 10 to 12 under the guidance of artist Damon Lamar Reed.
- When: Monday, June 19, 2023 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
- Where: Komed Holman Health Center, 4259 S. Berkeley Ave, Chicago
The project is made possible through the generous support of Meridian Health. Their commitment to community engagement and wellness is instrumental in bringing this exciting initiative to life.
Renowned artist Damon Lamar Reed, in collaboration with the esteemed Chicago Public Arts Group, will lead the creative process behind the community mural. The artist is currently working on renderings based on the valuable feedback received from the community.
